Frequently Asked Questions

About The Paintings

What materials do you use?
I employ only artist-grade permanent watercolor paints (Winsor Newton, Daniel Smith, and Holbein) on heavy archival 100% cotton watercolor paper (Arches and Saunders Waterford).
Do you offer prints or giclees?
Due to the wide selection and reasonable prices of my original watercolor paintings, I do not offer prints or giclees at this time. If you would like me to repaint a painting that's already been sold, please contact me to discuss it.
Do you do commission work?
I accept select commissions, depending on the subject matter and style required. Please contact me to discuss your wishes. My prices for commissioned works are similar to my standard prices.
How do you price your paintings?
Except in unusual circumstances, the price depends only on the size of the painting.
Have your previous collectors been happy with their paintings?
If you'd like to read some unsolicited comments from collectors who have purchased paintings from my websites, please look at these unsolicited testimonials.
Why is the painting that I reached by clicking a link from another site different from what I expected to see?
When a painting on this site is sold, I eventually replace it with a new painting, to avoid "cluttering up" the site with unavailable paintings. In that case, you will see the replacement painting. If you would like me to repaint an already-sold painting for you that you've seen elsewhere, please contact me to discuss it.

Purchase, Payment, & Shipping

Special Note: If you order a painting from this website now, I will not be able to ship it until mid March. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
How can I purchase a painting?
When you click the Buy Now button located under your painting image, you will be transferred to the secure PayPal site, where you can pay by credit card, bank transfer, or PayPal account if you have one. If you prefer to pay by check, please contact me at jim@jimoberst.com or 501-984-3178 to reserve your painting.
Do you ever offer discounts or rebates?
You'll find a link to any curent special offers on my Home page. Collectors who have purchased 3 or more paintings from me receive a 10% rebate on all subsequent painting purchases. Multiple discounts and rebates generally all apply unless this is specifically prohibited in the offer.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Gift certificates are a great way to give your art-loving friends and family the pleasure of choosing their own painting. You may purchase one of several denominations of gift certificate by clicking on the button below and then choosing an amount. You will be given the option to either send the gift certificate to its recipient via email, or to print it out so you can deliver it personally. Gift certificates can be redeemed only on this website, remain in effect until they are fully redeemed, and cannot be partially refunded. One word of advice - if you plan to print the gift certificate yourself, do not fill in the recipient's email address. If there is an email address listed, the certificate can only be redeemed by the owner of that address.

Can I pay for my painting over time?
Yes, you can use the PayPal Credit financing option to extend your payment time, often with no finance charges. Just choose the financing offer at PayPal checkout.
How quickly will you ship my painting?
Normally, I will ship your painting within one or two business days of your order.
How will you package my painting?
I ship all paintings flat, in a waterproof plastic sleeve, between rigid slabs of foamcore, and enclosed in an envelope or paper wrapping.
Which delivery service will you use to ship my painting?
I ship paintings to all U.S. destinations by first-class U.S. mail. International shipments normally go via Priority Mail International.
Is there a charge to ship my painting?
There is no charge for shipping to an address within the U.S. For international shipments, there is a small extra charge - 15% of the painting's value. If you require international shipping, I will send you a PayPal invoice for the additional shipping charge via email after you complete your online purchase.
What about import duty?
Import duty fees vary widely by item, destination country, and value. I cannot predict whether there will be an import duty, but if there is, it will be your responsibility to pay it.
I live in Ohio; will I have to pay sales tax?
For paintings purchased from this website, the Ohio sales tax is included in the purchase price for Ohio residents.
What if I don't like my painting when I receive it?
I know that it's difficult to choose art on the internet, and I want you to be happy with your painting, so I offer a no-questions-asked money-back guarantee: If you are unsatisfied with your painting for any reason, you may return it to me in "like-new" condition at your expense within two weeks of receipt, and I will refund your original payment.

Facebook: Pinterest: YouTube: Twitter: Instagram:
Didn't you previously have two different websites?
www.jimoberst.com was my original artist website, with my larger-size paintings, bio, artist statement, news, workshop information, etc. When I began painting my smaller weekly watercolors in 2010, I created a second more streamlined website - www.weeklywatercolor.com - where I could post these weekly paintings, since there would be so many of them. Recently I decided to consolidate all of my available paintings on my main website, www.jimoberst.com, and reorganize them into six different galleries according to subject, for ease of browsing. I have modified www.weeklywatercolor.com to automatically redirect you to www.jimoberst.com, which now includes all of my still-available watercolor paintings of all sizes and all of my new paintings.
Have you published any videos?
Yes, I've published several videos and slide shows about my paintings and technique. You can see them on my youtube channel and on the Videos page of this website.
Where can I find out about your upcoming demos and exhibits?
Besides announcing them in my newsletter, I post an up-to-date schedule on my Events page.
Will you present a demo to my local art group?
I am willing to travel to present demonstrations; if you would like to discuss a demo, please contact me at jim@jimoberst.com or 501-984-3178.
How often do you post new paintings?
I post a new painting on www.jimoberst.com several times per month. I feature my latest posted painting on my Events page.
Do you sell many paintings? Where?
I have sold hundreds of paintings - my paintings are in homes and businesses in 7 countries and over 30 states. I exhibit and sell in a variety of regional exhibits throughout the year, and on the internet at www.jimoberst.com. Visit my Events page for a listing of curent exhibit venues where you can see and purchase my paintings.
Will you ever share my personal information?
I will not. Please see my complete Privacy Policy.
How can I contact you?
You can contact me by email at jim@jimoberst.com, by phone at 501-984-3178, or by snailmail at 1881 Ivywood Court, Pataskala, OH 43062.
